Turfmarkt Car Park
The preliminary investigations showed the concrete structural members to be in mediocre condition: a high chloride content and a very advanced carbonation front, in combination with insufficient concrete cover on the reinforcement. The concrete was also found to be excessively permeable. It was therefore important that the concrete floors, columns and walls were first sustainably restored.
This was done by traditionally repairing the concrete and then protecting the concrete parking floors. Once the concrete floors had been repaired, a crack-bridging parking deck system with a waterproof membrane and wear-resistant finishing layer was applied. A crack-bridging and carbonation-inhibiting coating was applied to the walls and a heavy-duty wearing coating was applied to the ramps. Parts of the top deck were also structurally reinforced with carbon glue reinforcement (CFC strips).
Additional information
Because the revitalization of the car park was multidisciplinary (concrete repair, architectural upgrading and installation technology), the project was carried out by a multidisciplinary team.
In collaboration with the concrete repair contractor and the technical installation contractor, and thanks to effective communication, the work in all areas was completed satisfactorily.
