After more than two and a half years of construction, the deepest underground car park in the Netherlands opened in April 2017. During construction, Solid Services carried out the supervision and quality checks for the application of the (floor) coating systems.

Lammermarkt Car Park

Solid Services carried out quality supervision and checks during the preparations and application of the various floor coating systems for the Leiden Car Parks construction consortium. The car park is the first of two large multi-storey underground car parks built in Leiden’s monumental city centre. It is the deepest underground car park in the Netherlands (22 metres deep) and has a capacity of over 500 cars.

Solid Services assessed the contractor’s work plan on suitability of the coating systems offered, the skid resistance of the various floor parts, lifespan aspects and, finally, on application techniques.

Weekly inspections were carried out on the concrete substrate (moisture measurements / CM measurement) as well as inspections during and after the application. In the meantime, quality studies (indicative compressive strength measurements) were also carried out on the concrete floors, the anchors of the drive-through protection were test-loaded, and we helped the building consortium resolve the crack and leakage problems in the diaphragm wall and floor structures.
