North Brabant Provincial Government Building
When chunks of concrete started falling from the top section of the provincial government building, the North Brabant provincial authorities alerted us. During our first visit, we wrote an investigation research proposal to identify the cause of the damage. While abseiling along the outside of the provincial government building, our inspectors discovered concrete damage on the back of the façade panels.
We monitored the building to see whether the situation was still safe, while the tendering procedure was completed. We also wrote the tender specification and an invitation to tender for contractors. We consulted with the province regarding various tenders that were received and, during the actual renovation, we supervised and carried out quality checks.
Additional information
For safety reasons, the renovation had to be carried out at night and during weekends. In total, no fewer than 1,100 façade panels were removed from the roof, each weighing between 800 and 1,700 kilos. They were loaded onto a truck with the aid of a large tower crane. The panels were repaired in a facility in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and then had to be refitted to the provincial government building. This was a major operation that we can look back on with no small amount of pride.
